Fox In Prescott Arizona

Besides the bear, we now have fox in Prescott Arizona! Well, we've always had foxes here, but this is the first time I've seen them. :-) Not just one, but a pair. Hopefully, we will have some kits (baby foxes) around here soon.

I attracted them when I came out to check the backyard for skunks. We love the skunks as well, and feed them dog food in the backyard. Well, ever since the fox found the food, they are here every single night. I will try and get more pictures of the fox in Prescott Arizona as soon as I can. These are pictures of one of the foxes getting water. The picture of fox in Prescott Arizona where they are eating are at night, so the quality isn't very good. The pictures below aren't very good either, but that's as the fox startled me at the water bucket. I took the photos below through the mud room screen door and glass. Not bad. The last picture was taken as the fox was leaving and the railing of the front deck was in the way of his legs.

I'll post the night pictures when I have time.

Bear In Prescott Arizona

So, after living in, and visiting Prescott, Arizona for 50 years, I've finally seen a bear in Prescott Arizona! What an exciting day! The pictures below are the only worthy ones I got. When I have time, I'll scour my wife's camera and see if she got any pictures. The bear came around the back of our home and these pictures were taken as I sat on the back deck. Pictures were taken with an iPhone Pro 12. Didn't have time to go and get my camera! (As a photographer, one would think I'd always have the camera handy, but doh! Guess not.)

Although the bears coat is redish-brown, we were told by the experts that it's a black bear. What's scary, or at least a bit of a coincidence, is that a week later, a man was mauled and killed by a bear in Groom Creek Arizona, only a 10 minute drive from our home! Now, after looking at the pictures of the two bears, it doesn't look like the bear in the picture below is the killer. (The bear in Groom Creek Arizona was killed after it was found.) This rings true, as when the bear turned the corner in the picture below, I yelled, pretty loud, for my wife to come see the bear. He didn't run away or flinch or anything. He wasn't violent and didn't seem agressive in any manner. (Not to say the bear is not aggressive, but this one certainly wasn't at the time of the pictures. The bear that killed the man in Groom Creek, it was said, came right up to the man and attacked him in a very aggressive manner. Just saying.) The bear in the pictures below just walked around the rest of the yard, then went across the street and tried to get in to the neighbor's trash. I'm just happy that this bear, I think, is alive! Such beautiful creatures!

I may write more when I have time.
